Union Minister of Fisheries & Animal Husbandry Giriraj Singh launched an Online Course mobile app ‘Matsya setu‘ for fish farmers. The app is developed by ICAR- Central Institute of freshwater aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, with funding support from the National fisheries development board(NFDB), Hyderabad.
The main aim of matsya setu app is to educate the fisher farmers about the latest technology aqua farming. The course module has been designed in a self-learning style with quizzes, the learners can also attend the live classes.
Union minister Giriraj Singh said that the app will be surely helpful for the farmers to learn the advancements in the technologies and Better Management Practices at their convenience. This app can also be an important tool to disseminate the latest information on different schemes among the stakeholders, especially fishers, fish farmers, youth, and entrepreneurs across the country, assist them and facilitate ease of doing business. He expressed confidence that the app will serve as a wonderful platform for the farmers for learning.
Matsya Setu app: Details
The app will offer species-wise or subject-wise self-learning online courses. The self-learning module will have aquaculture experts explain the basic concepts and practical proof on breeding, seed production, and grow-out culture of commercially important fishes like catfish carp, etc.
The course includes better management practices that should be followed in farming. The module has been divide into little video chapters of the convenience of the farmers.
Farmers can clear their doubts with experts. After the completion of the course Farmers will get an e-certificate.
This is a brilliant initiative by the government to educate the aquafarmers about the latest technology and management practices. This initiative will influence the farmers to use scientific methods in fish farming, and they improve their income
